About the Artist

Maya Gollihugh is a born and raised Santa Fe New Mexican painter. Her mediums include, but are not limited to, acrylic, ink, and charcoal. She has found a recent peak of interest in painting with acrylic paints. Her body of work illustrates a love for deep saturated color. She likes to explore the use of different canvases such as plywood and cardboard. She manipulates her canvas by adding different surface textures through the use of stripping, stamping, and cutting. She explores the relationship between the human experience and the world around by depicting her own experiences in life. She enjoys creating a moody, almost temperamental feeling with her work and she likes to explore the way that vibrant colors can impact that feeling.
